So many things have changed since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic – we have...
Lyric Hearing Aids
Lyric Hearing uses the combination of digital nanotechnology and specialized materials to produce water-resistant hearing aids that has led to the development of the world’s first extended wear hearing aid. Lyric Hearing was developed by InSound Medical, founded by medical device inventor and entrepreneurs Adnan Shennib and Thar Casey.
Lyric was sold in 2010 to Sonova, the parent company of Phonak, a hearing aid (daily wear) manufacturer. Phonak launched an updated version of the Lyric (Lyric 2) in 2012 that is smaller in order to fit more ear canals.
The Lyric hearing aid is placed deep in the ear canal by a hearing healthcare provider, making it 100% invisible. There is no surgery or anesthesia required when inserting the device.
Although every individual is different and every ear is different, Lyric hearing aids are designed to be worn for up to 4 months at a time without the need to remove, to recharge, or to replace the batteries.

The unique design allows for enjoyment of the benefits of hearing aids without anyone knowing you are wearing hearing aids while also producing clear, natural sound that outperforms other traditional hearing aid solutions.
The design and placement of the Lyric Hearing device reduces background noise and feedback for natural sound quality. Wearers of the device can use it without worry.
Lyric hearing aids allows the wearers to shower with the device or do other water surface-based activities, although the company does not recommend swimming or diving.
It is important to understand that the Lyric hearing aid is not a hearing implant or a cochlear implant. The device is not permanent. It does need to be removed every few months and replaced with a new hearing aid.
Fourth generation models include a smaller media module designed to help improve wearing comfort. Extended wear devices allow you to continue daily activities, like showering, talking on the phone, exercising, using headphones, and sleeping without having to remove your hearing device.
With Lyric, Tinnitus annoyance is reduced faster than daily wear hearing aids while also providing greater tinnitus relief and improved sleep quality. SoundLync, a magnetic adjustment tool that allows you to adjust the volume, turn the device on and off, set it in sleep mode, and remove the device, if necessary, also comes with Lyric instruments.
Wearers can adjust the volume of the device using a magnet and a removal tool is also provided. Business Week reports that this hearing aid received a 2009 Medical Design Excellence Award.
